• 1-inch wide elastic in headband.

Foam-stiffened brim:

• In addition to the obvious structure benefits of foam in the brim, it also allows this hat to float if blown overboard.

Hook and loop tabs on crown and brim:

• Brim can be fastened on one side of crown or both when greater visibility, ventilation, or style is needed.

Brushed tricot lining:

• Spreads perspiration rapidly over its surface to aid in more rapid exhaust of vapor through the GORE-TEX® crown.
• Very comfortable material to have next to the skin. Feels dry even when wet.

Removable drawcord under chin:

• When it's windy the chin cord keeps the hat from flying overboard. For less intense situations, it can easily be untied from the loops above the ears.
• Long enough so the hat can be dropped down onto the upper back.
  

Longer brim in back than in front:

• Keeps water from running down your neck; yet, not so long that it gets in the way of a backpack.
• When the sun comes out the neck is protected from being burned.
